So for day 2 of the Cheddar Gobblin Tiki make, I needed to think about the base of the mug. I mean, this was always gonna be sculpted, but given the center will be empty, I wanted to build it around something where the cavity was already in place.
I mean, it will make the casting that much more painless. So I looked on Amazon to look for cylindrical jars and found this…

Clearly I didn’t read the sizing… cause this was WAY too big for a tiki mug! Haha. So after some measurements, went back to Amazon, and got this…

It was the right diameter… but definitely a little short. But seeing as I didn’t think I had any jars on hand would do the trick, I thought maybe going a little SD on the original art would be okay…

…clearly I was wrong. Haha.
BUT decided to throw a little caution to the wind, and decided to go with a jar I had on hand. It’s one that had some Korean sauce in it from the market. My initial hesitation to use it was that it wasn’t a straight cylinder. There were some groves and insets in the jar that would present an issue when it comes to casting.
But I wanted to get this going. So I cut the back of the above, and like a horror movie, peeled off the face to apply to the jar…

And I gotta say, definitely like how this is coming along.
Stay tuned for next the next step!
